St. Leonard's Church with the Alms House (as it was referred to in an early census, later called a lodging house) at 1 Church Lane is also in the picture. Post 1868 as the extension is visibly blending in. The scaffolding is there because the removal of the chimney in the Athorpe Chapel is in the process of been removed.
In the days before the bus stop and / or the Lock-up. Notice the post box in the boundary wall. The extension of the Chancel could be quite recent circa 1868 as the cross marking the end of the church as it was is still visible and the ridge tiles on the extension are different.
The extension to the right has now been added.
Church choir of days gone by circa 1957.
Circa 1905
Aerial view after the extension was added. The Falcon Hotel and the lock up / bus shelter.
The flag pole has now been added. The post box is still visible in the boundary wall.
Before the chimney in the Athorpe Chapel was removed.
Before the extension had been added to the right. The chimney is still there but the flag pole and post box are not. I love the light over the gate.
