For some time now we have been working hard at St Leonard’s to develop our ministry with children and young people. We are fortunate to have committed teams of people who willingly give of their time to support this area of our work. We are also blessed with a range of expertise within the teams as this contributes to our ability to produce an imaginative and appealing range of events and activities for children and young people.
Lennys Coffee Morning
This takes place every Monday (except Bank Holidays) from 10.30am until 12 noon. We welcome parents, carers and grandparents to come along with their babies and toddlers for an informal get together. There are toys, games, music including action songs and stories and plenty of opportunity to chat to other adults. There are also refreshments for all. We have baby changing facilities.

Messy Church
What we particularly enjoy about this is that it brings us into contact with children and their families. It takes place on the first Sunday of alternate months (2.00 pm – 4.00pm) This is a form of church, which is different to the traditional services that we hold. Again, our committed team plans a range of fun activities, and imaginative presentations of stories and prayer time; we have lively singing with actions and percussion, all topped off with food!
We were very grateful to receive a grant from St Agatha’s Trust to provide a new cooker for the kitchen. This means we can be a little more adventurous with the food we provide but also we will be able to include baking in the range of activities we offer.

Chocolate Club
Each Tuesday we provide hot chocolate drinks, or milkshakes in the summer (with cream and marshmallows of course), for the students on their way home from Dinnington High School. We have been astounded by the number of young people we welcome, currently standing at an average of 100 each week. We thoroughly enjoy seeing them all and having the opportunity to chat with them. We were particularly pleased to hear recently, that some students have renamed Chocolate Club and are now referring to it as “Church Tuesday”, and as such making it their own.

Open the Book
We have been visiting three local primary schools to perform stories from the bible for over 10 years now. It brings us much joy and we are always overwhelmed by the reaction of the children when they see us in school. It is testimony to the team that their commitment throughout this period of time has been superb, and a good example of ministry in the wider community.

Third Sunday Service
Our third Sunday service is aimed at all ages, and we particularly enjoy welcoming children and their families. This service is ideal for those who prefer a slightly less formal form of worship and is particularly suitable for children and young people.
