Dear Friends
You will no doubt be aware that the situation with regard to the increase in Covid19 infection rates is becoming increasingly more serious. You will have seen in the press and on television that the Prime Minister, in his announcement on Monday evening, did not include public worship in the essential closures required by lockdown legislation, stating that churches could remain open.
Since the virus has become more easily transmitted and infection rates are rising, Dinnington PCC have, regrettably, taken the decision to close church for public worship for the foreseeable future. Our priority, and indeed our responsibility, is to protect the health and well-being of all those who attend church for worship; in the current situation we are not confident that we can do this and feel that it is too great a risk to take. We will continue to allow funerals in church for the time being, but they will be subject to very strict infection control procedures.
We will send out a Service of the Word each week for you to take part in at home. This week we will be celebrating The Baptism of Christ. You will receive an order of service by post, email, via our website or our Facebook page, which will include a sermon by The Ven. Steve Wilcokson. As we normally begin our worship at 10.00am each Sunday, we would like to suggest that we worship at home at the same time so that we are still joined in a collective act of worship, but with enhanced social distancing!
These are very sad times, with increasing numbers of people suffering in unimaginable ways. This is the time now for us all to do exactly what is asked of us by government, to put our own needs to one side, and work for the greater good.
We have to believe that after all that has been achieved on our behalf by scientist and our wonderful NHS, that the light at the end of the tunnel is becoming increasingly brighter. So please:
God Bless
Mags and Irene

Salvation Army Foodbank The foodbank in Dinnington is continuing to function on both a Thursday and a Saturday. On a Saturday anyone can drop in from about 11am and they will be given a food parcel made up from what is available on that day. Thursday is for people that have been referred by the various services and by church, an appointment will be made in advance and a parcel will be ready for them to collect. These parcels will have been put together specifically with the number in the family and their ages taken in to account. This does not mean that if someone is in desperate need of food on a Thursday they have to wait until Saturday they can drop in on either of these days.
They really need our help so if you feel you can donate please visit their FaceBook page and you will then be directed to their Just Giving Page. Search Dinnington Salvation Army.
